Which are the best Portuguese wines of 2022? The choice is no easy task, although it is a little pleasurable for those who carry it out. To make this selection, 40 specialists from various countries around the world carried out blind tastings (without prior knowledge of the wines) of 60 different samples. These samples, in turn, were selected from a much wider universe. Over the last few months, the tasters of Revista de Vinhos (Wine Magazine) have tried around a thousand different labels from all of Portugal’s regions. Whites, reds, sparkling wines and even fortified wines (such as Madeira and port) were in the running. Opinion leaders, journalists, critics and sommeliers from countries such as Portugal, Spain, Denmark, England, Italy, Switzerland, the United States and Brazil, totalling 40 specialists, made the final selection of the TOP 10 Portuguese Wines. The tasting took place in Porto, during the Essência do Vinho, the biggest wine event in the North and one of the biggest in the country. The list of the champions we bring you here below.

This time, two white wines, six red wines and two fortified wines are the highlights of the competition. The trio of big winners has very different terroirs: Alentejo, Dão and Porto.
